United States: A new case of measles infection came to light after the Public Health – Seattle & King County reported a confirming report of infection in an adult, who could have spread the disease to others.
More about the news
The report highlighted that the sickened person visited numerous locations in Bellevue, Seattle, and Woodinville between June 27 and July 2 before the infection report came in, while infected.
As public health is at risk, the communicable disease chief for Public Health – Seattle & King County, Dr. Eric Chow stated, “Measles is a very contagious infection and if you don’t have immunity, you can get it just by being in a room where a person with measles has been,” as Seattle Times reported.

Chow added, “We’ve seen an increase in measles cases around the world and in the US, so it’s an important time to check your vaccination status and get vaccinated if you aren’t protected.”
Guidelines by the officials
As per the officials, it is of supreme importance to be inoculated before planning to travel as the infected person with measles had returned from an international travel.
Moreover, so far, vaccination is considered the best protection against the measles virus.
Therefore, as Chow stated, measles vaccines are effective in shielding against the attack of the virus, where two doses of mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine are potent enough to provide almost 97 percent of lifelong immunity, as the Seattle Times reported.
The experts caution the public that the potent measles virus could stay alive in the air after ejecting it by an infected via sneezing or coughing.
Therefore, experts are urging people to take safety measures strictly against the disease, as it could become a potentially life-threatening disease if not treated on time.
Common Symptoms include – fever, runny nose, and reddish-watery eyes.
It could also lead to other health illnesses, such as infections of the ears, diarrhea, pneumonia, and even brain inflammation in certain cases.
