United States: According to experts, in 2024, it is seen that skin ages differently than before, and it is largely due to digital exposure.

Dr. Carmen Górriz from IMR described the way in which blue light on the skin could pose damaging effects.

More about the news

As per the experts, blue light coming out from our screens could penetrate into our skin deeper than UV rays, which create free radicals and cause long-term damage, which is speeding up the aging process.

According to Dr Górriz, “Blue light can cause oxidative stress, damaging skin cells, DNA, and proteins like collagen and elastin,” vogue.in reported.

Affected areas on the skin

The reports suggested that the areas of eye contours are one of the most affected areas, which face the strain of twenty-two muscles and more than 10,000 blinks a day.

Apart from that, we generally spend twenty-sever years on average of our lives in front of screens, hence damage to this area is inevitable.

According to an expert, “Digital screen overuse increases eye strain, causing us to squint more often. This repetitive muscle movement leads to stress lines and wrinkles around the eyes.”

Experts said one of their new formulas, the Nº1 Sérum Yeux Revitalisant, helps in preventing this aging from the screen by acting upon the area, which helps in soothing eye fatigue.

What more are the experts stating?

According to Dr. Vicente Mera, head of internal medicine and anti-aging at Sha Wellness Clinic, we are well-indulged in living longer and aging better. However, excessive screen time is working against that goal of ours.

Mera noted that screens don’t just let us become sedentary; they also disturb our sleeping quality.

He said, “Blue light messes with our circadian rhythms, affecting both the quality and amount of sleep and disrupting processes linked to hormones and neurotransmitters.”

Moreover, Dr Manel Esteller, who is a leading expert in epigenetics, adds that although it would be too early to mention that screens could result in a permanent genetic change, it is possible that it might lead to it, and requires further research into the matter.

Ways to prevent the damage

Among several ways, one is using serum, which could reactivate youth genes that had been silenced by healthy living; one example of that is Eucerin’s new Epigenetic Serum.

According to Nuria Cuesta, medical director at Eucerin, “The goal is to not only improve aging skin but to actually rejuvenate the cells,” vogue.in reported.
